Wait, What Is Drama Therapy?
Drama Therapy is an embodied form of therapy that uses theatrical interventions to deepen and expand therapeutic work. I like to think of it as one more tool added to my therapeutic toolbox!
Often times, we may not be ready to sit down in a room and talk about what's really going on. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which relies on conversation, expressive arts therapies allow us to access and process our experiences and emotions through other means. In treatment with my clients, sometimes we are talking, but often we are drawing, building, creating, moving, and experiencing. In experiencing together, therapists and clients are able to build stronger alliances and begin a deeper form of exploration.
