Bringing Accessibility and Healing to the Forefront Using the Arts
For the past decade, Marielle has been lucky enough to speak around the country on creating accessible theatrical opportunities for populations with disabilities. She has collaborating with professional theaters, communities centers, schools, arts education programs, and more on how to make sure accessibility and inclusivity are at the forefront of their minds. Now, as a Drama Therapist in training she is thrilled to build an even stronger foundation to her consulting work.
Recent Consulting Work:
Marielle has begun work with The Neighborly Project, a company focused on community mental health. With Neighborly, she has worked with founder Deborah French Fisher on creating quick, replicable creative arts therapy interventions to support a variety of communities. She supported as an emotional support at The Arc on election day and collaborated with Z-Space for their Problematic Play Festival. Most recently, she helped devise interventions for the Night of Ideas at the SF Public Library.
Marielle continued with StageWrite, creating their curriculum for their ADAPTS program, an integrated program for neurotypical and neurodivergent elementary school children.
Marielle consulted with Gideon Theater Productions on their production of Universal Robots. With Gideon, she supported as they planned their first Disability Outreach programming, ultimately culminating in their first ever ASL interpreted performance. She also worked with Artistic Director Sean Williams to lay a ground work for future productions catered to individuals with invisible disabilities. In addition, she supported with a parent-friendly production day creating a thematically connected theater curriculum for children to learn and explore while their parents watched the performance.
